Change to Tylenol Chewable Tablets (August 2017):
The makers of Tylenol are changing the dose of their Tylenol chewable tablets to be uniformly consistent. Until now, there had been two different types of Tylenol chewable tablets available – 80 mg and 160 mg. In an attempt to reduce dosing confusion, the 80 mg chewable tablet will no longer be available. Going forward, all Tylenol chewable tablets will only be available in the 160 mg dose.
During this period of transition, there might be two different concentrations of Tylenol chewable tablets both on the store shelves and in your home. Please always be aware of what dose (in milligrams) you are giving your child.
The current Tylenol dosing chart is reprinted here, with recommendations from the manufacturer for both Tylenol liquid as well as Tylenol 160 mg chewable tablet, as well as dosages for infants’ and children’s Motrin liquids.
As always, if you have any questions about proper medication dosage for your child, please contact our office.
